How I love my new iPhone 3GS. I finally replaced my three year old Palm Treo. I can do everything with my iPhone. While I was out of town for work I was able to do all of the following with my phone.
- Kept up with email from work
- Was able to accept meeting invites and reject them
- Used the GPS to find my hotel
- Used Urban Spoon to determine where to eat dinner
- Checked the weather
- Took pictures of the stores I was visiting
- Took notes on everything I saw and emailed the notes to myself
- Updatedy Facebook status and checked the newsfeed
- Checked my 401k perfomance and the market
- Did online check in to my flight
- Played games on the airplane
- Listened to my iPod tunes
- Checked pricing on a DSL modem on Amazon
And I am even typing this entire blog entry on my iPhone! It’s just too cool.

Here’s the list of song lyrics that I have used in lessons, with the newest ones at the top. The reason for building this page is mainly for myself. If I ever come across these topics with different classes I’ll use the material again.
The boys and girls in the clique
The awful names that they stick
You’re never gonna fit in much, kid
But if you’re troubled and hurt
What you got under your shirt
Will make them pay for the things that they did
– My Chemical Romance, Teenagers
We focused on the part of the lesson on forgiving everyone. Funny thing is that almost all of them knew this song, and they knew this lyric, but they didn’t know that “what you got under your shirt” was referring to a gun. I think it changed their perspective on the song a little bit.
Now this looks like a job for me
So everybody just follow me
Cause we need a little controversy
Cause it feels so empty without me
– Eminem, Without Me
Ha! When I showed this one the immediate response was “Why do you know what Eminem is saying?”. Again, don’t forget, I’m hip and with it. The lesson had three main points, but we focused on the confusion and contention in the people. I related these lyrics to someone who likes to start controversy just for the sake of having controversy.
I want to live where soul meets body
And let the sun wrap its arms around me
And bathe my skin in water cool and cleansing
And feel, feel what its like to be new
– Deathcab for Cutie, Soul Meets Body
Lesson was on the resurrection. It was an interesting analogy. I’m pretty sure when the kids here the song in the future they’ll remember how we made the analogy.
One man betrayed with a kiss
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
– U2, Pride (In the Name of Love)
Pretty self-explanatory if you look at the lesson.
I’m right there if you get lonely
Give this song another listen
Close your eyes
Listen to my voice it’s my disguise
I’m by your side
– Plain White Ts, Hey There Delilah
Lesson was on the Holy Ghost. We changed “song” to “Holy Ghost” and took the idea from there.
Say a prayer but let the good times roll, in case God doesn’t show
– Fall Out Boy, Thnks Fr Th Mmrs
This is the one that started this whole thing. See the blog entry for details.

Elena and I had the opportunity to go to London and Paris for 10 days in August of 2006. It was fantastic. I had been to London before, but never to Paris. And Elena had never been out of the country. It was a great trip and something we will always remember.
We’ll use this page as a starting point for our adventure. As I get around to it, we’ll post as much information as we can.
I’m Andrew Lawrence and I am currently working as the Product Manager for Merchandise Management, Store Operations, and Customer Management Applications at Tomax Corporation. (Whew! That’s a mouthful…) Tomax provides software for retailers - point of sale, inventory management, purchasing/receiving, merchandise forcasting and planning, labor scheduling, etc. I’m essentially the Product Manager over all applications that retailers would use to manage items and transactions in their stores.
This blog is a chance for me to get my opinions out in the open. It’s also an opportunity to communicate with everyone I know to keep them informed on what I’ve been up to. The writings on this blog are my own opinions and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of my employer (or anyone else, for that matter).
My wife, Elena, and I have lived in Utah all of our lives. Our family has grown to include four children: Josh, Tim, Maren, and Emma. Between family duties, work, and yard/house work we manage to keep ourselves pretty busy.
